Well, well! We’re pleased to announce a new website up and running (which you have probably noticed). There have been some major changes, so let me detail those. Firstly, to get it out of the way, the sacrifices made were as follows:
THE BAD
1. All store accounts under the old system have been lost. There was no way to switch them over. While it may be an inconvenience and loss in efficiency to make a new one, it has been made up for in the ability to have your entire checkout process on ONE page!
2. Temporarily, the actual lesson registration form is down. I’m having some issues with form posting within the new CMS, but i’ll get those resolved soon. The rest of it works great, so you can still check out the teacher directory and live schedules… you’ll just have to register in person or via the phone for a few weeks.
That’s it. Those was the only issues encountered in usability. Now for the goodies!
THE GOOD
1. We are able to synchronize our online store with our in-store point of sale system for, which means we’ll be able to have MUCH more product on our website, and you can be assured the stock levels will be correct (to the best of our ability, of course!).
2. There are much improved search and navigation features for our catalog, such as drill-down sorting by features!
3. We’ll be able to show more (as in quantity) detailed views of high-end products.
4. Our slow and clunky news feed has now been replaced with this nice, slick bloggy-style interface, and we hope to have some weekly and monthly features (such as staff album pick of the week, etc.).
5. Now that we have USPS and UPS integrating shipping tables, we have done away with flat shipping prices for orders under $150. That’s great news for all you “I just want three sets of strings” folks.
Onward and upward!
